The California Association for the Education of Young Children Collection, 1932-1985.

The California Association for the Education of Young Children (CAEYC) evolved from the need to identify with a statewide organization that speaks out and acts on the behalf of young children, their families and educators. The organization began when a few nursery school professionals joined together at Mills College of Oakland, California in 1926, known then as the California Association for Nursery Education. After thirty years of growth, CAEYC has become a vital force uniting educators of young children. Correspondence, brochures, minutes, reports, studies, and related printed matter, concerning the establishment and development of the Association. These materials date mainly from 1953 to 1985. Also included in the collection are educational publications, two oversized scrapbooks, presidents' files, executive board minutes, administrative files, committee photographs, and proclamations.
